Full Description
Versatility
Apart from the distinctive minimalistic aesthetic, the Q Active 400 system is a haven for hi-res, HiFi home entertainment. The control hub, which comes packed with the speakers, features ports for ethernet, HDMI ARC, digital optical and analogue RCA; which includes a switch for line level and MM phono connections. You can also stream wirelessly with Chromecast built-in, as well as Bluetooth, Apple Airplay 2, Spotify and Roon Ready compatibility amongst others, letting you organise your music as well as integrate it into a multiroom system.
Sound
Once you have connected to your audio source, the Q Active control hub converts the signal into a high-resolution 24bit/96kHz digital file. This is transmitted wirelessly to the left and right Q Active 400 floorstanding speakers, meaning whether you’re listening to old-school vinyl, stereo home cinema or streaming wirelessly, the integrity of your audio is maintained and your room is kept clear of wiring. The control hub also features a sub-out, giving you the option to augment the already impressive 35Hz low-frequency capabilities of the Active 400 speakers.
Design
The integrated Class D amplifier provides continuous 140W to the drive units – ample power delivery for even the most rigorous musical tastes. Q Acoustics have utilised two BMR (Balanced Mode Radiators) forward-facing drive units to produce a widescreen soundstage, evenly distributing sound into your listening room and greatly enlarging the sweet spot. Crossing over to the low end at 150Hz, the Q Active 400s use two rear-facing subwoofer units, supported by waveguides and “dart” cabinet bracing for minimal colouration and optimal control.
