“Delivering a clean, refined and detailed sound, Bowers and Wilkins’ entry-level speakers are simply superb”
“B&W’s latest entry-level 607 S3 speakers win us over with a clean, refined and detailed sound that’s also entertaining in spades”
Bowers & Wilkins 607 S3 Bookshelf Speakers
At the heart of these speakers lies the five-inch Continuum cone bass/midrange. This is a unique technology that boosts the 52Hz – 28kHz frequency response and delivers an immersive listening experience. This performance is also supported by the rear-ported cabinet design with Flowport technology that optimises the bass response, creating deep, low-end sounds that will add depth to your favourite songs. Thanks to its compact design, the B&W speakers provide superb sound dispersion in smaller rooms and great positional flexibility. You can also take your listening experience to new heights by placing these speakers on the FS-600 S3 Speaker Stands (sold separately) to reduce vibrations and improve the soundstage.
Audiolab 7000A Integrated Stereo Amplifier
Class AB Power
The 7000A has a discrete Class AB power amp stage which delivers 70W per channel into eight ohms, and a maximum current delivery of 9A amps for difficult loads. Superior linearity and excellent thermal stability are ensured with the output stage of the discrete power amp circuits using a CFB topology. The amp stays in firm control of the music with excellent dynamic range, helped by the 250VA toroidal transformer and the 4x15000uF reservoir capacity.
Multiple Sources
Cover all bases with high quality for all: For CD players and line-level sources, you have dual analogue inputs; for digital sources, dual Coaxial and SPDIF inputs; and for wireless audio playback and smart devices, you have a Bluetooth aptX receiver. Plus, the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) connection allows you to seamlessly enhance your TV audio, with a direct-to-PC connection via USB as well, for all your home entertainment.
Cutting-edge DAC
The 7000A’s ESS ES9038Q2M chip finetunes the introduction of low-loss digital audio files into your home audio system. It utilises both 32-bit HyperStream architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator from ESS Technology. Plus, it has ultra-low noise and a high dynamic range thanks to a post-DAC filter based on class A topology and its proprietary DC-coupled high-gain electronic amp.
Super Streaming
The 7000A offers full decoding for MQA, a hi-res streaming technology with a completely limited loss of detail. This means that the 7000A completes the ‘three unfold’ decoding process internally, instead of a final unfold in a final MQA ‘renderer’, resulting in superior sounding, studio-quality audio streaming from services such as Tidal.
Integrated Phono Solution
Connecting a turntable setup with a moving magnet cartridge? The 7000A comes with an enhanced, integrated phono stage, with RIAA equalisation and an improved low-noise MM phono circuit. The same can be said for this amp’s dedicated headphone output, which has current-feedback circuitry, gain bandwidth and a high slew rate, ensuring detailed and engaging performance.
Interface and Graphics
The 7000A includes an improved display and GUI, so you can more easily visualise your settings. It can be set to show a VU meter in either analogue or digital form. Furthermore, the GUI also has settings for the digital phase lock loop of the D/C converter.
